Victorian & Edwardian Photographs

The John Hannavy Picture Collection includes, in addition to John's many thousands of original images, a large collection of photographs from the Victorian and Edwardian eras. These images cover the story of photography from its earliest days up to the outbreak of the Great War. Photographers whose work features in the collection include Roger Fenton, Francis Frith, Carlo Ponti, George Washington Wilson, Julia Margaret Cameron, Alexander Wilson Hill, and many others. Also included are many late 19th century Photochrom views of the British seaside, and a large collection of early 20th century tinted postcards showing many aspects of Edwardian life.
