From steam trains to jet aircraft, from traction engines to huge pumping stations, John has photographed hundreds of magnificent machines over the years, many of them in connection with magazine commissions. A regular contributor to Vintage Spirit magazine and several railway titles, John's primary enthusiasm is for steam-powered machines, but great sailing ships also catch his eye. Modern machines figure less often, but when given the chance to photograph air-to-air refuelling from the co-pilot's seat of an RAF Hercules transport aircraft, who is going to say 'no'?
