Weighing The World

Weighng The World tells the story of the company which once proudly advertised that 9/10ths of all the goods carried on Britain's railways were weighed on their machines. Established around 1770, they were one of the major early players in the quest for accurate, durable and reliable weighing equipment. They had a global reputation. Pooley's weights were once given the official stamp of approval as the 'universal standard' in the business, and their equipment was used across engineering, transport, agriculture nd manufacturing – there was even a Pooley 'Weighing Chair' on board the RMS Titanic. For its first century and a half, the Pooley company was headed by five generations all named Henry.
